LinkWheel: Is it really powerful?

LinkWheel in SEO takes advantage of the properties of web 2.0 enabled websites. The purpose of using this backlinking method is to add more linkjuice and it with this, you can rank higher in search engine for the targeted keywords in the linkwheels. In the linkwheel, the hub is your blog, then you create several spokes or the outer wheels which are web 2 enabled websites that links to your hub. Then you create backlinks for each of these spokes as many as you can.

This method is very time consuming but yields very promising results because some SEO Professionals use this method effectively. But even if the spokes are not web 2.0 enabled websites, search engine crawlers can definitely keep on crawling the hub everyday because of the number of backlinks created.

This method can be considered blackhat if the contents are meaningless and low quality. It is considered ethical and natural if the contents are original, natural, well written and does not violates any search engine rules. This is definitely a one man task considering how big this backlinking effort will be.

A simple linkwheeling campaign would be the following:

  1. Create an article and should be linking back to your website.
  2. Submit this article to a web 2.0 enabled article submission site.
  3. Spin this article several times and post it to several web 2.0 websites.
  4. Create backlinks for these articles using social bookmarking sites, microblogging site, social networking sites and forums.
  5. Ping each one of these articles everyday.

On-Site Optimization Basics

On-site Optimization is the start of the complicated process in Search Engine Optimization. A very good start can signal a very promising if not excellent positive probability for success in every indeavor and SEO is not so different from everything else. A strategic advance planning is very much needed to increase even more this probability of success. On-Site Optimization starts with keyword research. After selecting the appropriate keywords, the Website Architecture, Design and Layout should be synchronized with the chosen keywords not only to enhance the reading/browsing experience of your visitors but should be built in accordance with the best SEO practices because this will have significant impact in the searcheability of the website. And lastly, create the best content there is on Earth that will be very informative, well written, entertaining and persuasive.

SEO Professionals use the following best On-Site Optimization Practice:

  1. The website must be optimized for search engine spider crawling. Your internal linking structure should be well designed so users and search engines know where to go, how to get from one page to the next, and where they are in the site at any point during their journey. Avoid dead links. And make sure that your site map is always crawled by the search engines.
  2. Inspect the coding of the web page whether it is optimized. It should have the appropriate meta tags for search engine spiders in the header, meta tags for keywords in the header(h1, h2, h3…etc), meta tags in the images should appropriately included it should comply to the W3C standards.
  3. The URL(including the subdirectory) of each webpage must include 1 or two words if not the whole phrase of the keyword you are targetting. It would be best if the main keyword is the same as the domain name.
  4. Be conscious about the keyword density of the web page. 8% to 12% is best keyword density. If your keyword density is above 12%, the web page might be tagged as spammy.
  5. The keywords must at least be mentioned once in each paragraph. The first 2 sentences is very important for search engine crawlers. So make sure that the keywords are there.
  6.  The content should be optimal. Always create articles that are at least 300 words with at least 3 paragraphs so that the search engines will be able to understand the contents.

To summarize it all, good strategic planning, highly optimized and search engine spider friendly coding and contents is always be followed to ensure the success of the website in search engine optimization and if you followed the guidelines I mentioned above, then you should expect that in the coming days, search engines will be able to classify and index properly your website based on the keywords taht you are targetting.

SEO Tutorial: Backlinking

The most tedious and very very time consuming task in SEO process is backlinking. For those who does not know and are not SEO enthusiasts, backlinking is a process where a blogger has to network with other bloggers and the whole internet community and in this process, he leaves a trail and that is the backlinks. Two weeks ago, I have learned that the PR(page rank) introduced by google has a flaw that blackhat seo professionals exploits to get instant gain in PR, so I say don’t stop backlinking just because I told you that someone skilled in SEO can easily overshadow( or worse cheat you) your SEO effort. But then experts said google will eventually detect the fake PR through manual inspection.

Backlinking is an effective method to get the targeted visitors that can be easily converted into buyers and in the background the search engines will recognize your effort for doing this and in due time, your pages will be searcheable and can be seen in search result. Although, yes search engines can give more visitors but that does not happens overnight, probably you will see result in over a year or so if you keep on backlinking, posting highly relevant, very informative and very usefull articles.

These are some of the backlinking methods I usually do:

  1. I post comments on blogs that have similar niche to my blog.
  2. I participate in online forum discussions related to my blog’s niche and always attach my blog’s url to my forum signature. You can make thousands of relevant backlinks from this method.
  3. I create articles related to my blog’s  niche and submit them to article submission sites.
  4. Submit my url to thousands of search engines.
  5. Submit my articles in social bookmarking sites.
  6. Promote my rss feeds just like how I promote my blog’s url by submitting it to popular rss submission sites.
  7. I ping each of my blog(posted articles) including my rss feeds everyday. Pinging my blog means I am inviting search engine robots to check the changes in my blog. Without doing this, these search engine robots may take days before they will know that I posted a new article.
  8. Promote my blog to social networking and microblogging sites.
  9. Keep on researching on how you can generate backlinks more efficiently. Most recently, I have come over this linkwheeling method but it is a semi-blackhat method but it can be effective if done in the right way.

The following can also help you build up your link building efforts:
1. Promote your blog offline by attaching your blog’s url to your business card, keep mentioning it to your friends, collegues, business partners, clients, etc.
2. Email blasting, send email to thousands of people inviting them to visit your blog or promoting your product. If these people liked my blog, without even exerting effort, they will voluntarily mention it in their blogs or websites.

Metrics To Measure your Blog’s Success

PageRank from Google and Traffic Rank from Alexa are the 2 most important indicators of your blog’s performance and success. But it is not advised to focus on these 2 indicators. They are just independent web tools that acknowledges how important your blog as compared to other blogs and websites. They are some sort of Award giving bodies for blogs and websites. They are like the Oscar Awards for the movies and Emmy Awards for the television.

Blog metrics is all about measuring and there are a lot of different variable that need measuring. For me as a blogger, I measure the progress of my blog in terms of the following:

  1. Contents of my blog. I blog because I want to share knowledge and my experiences and I should present it in such a way that my readers will be able to easily understand and be entertained at the same time.  Always thinking of the most helpful, very interesting and very informative topics hoping that my visitors will love and appreciate.
  2. I monitor my Back Links. Incoming links is the basic foundation of a blog. It is a free advertisement. I always keep track of it and always conscious of it. It is not easy to find a high quality backlinks but once I get it, it will help a lot in promoting my blog.  What I really look for are those blogs that have very very few outgoing links, high Pagerank and low Alexa traffic rank.
  3. I check my webtraffic and the bounce rate and how long do they stay on my blog. It is quite obvious that I blog because I want someone to read it. I will be so fulfilled if more people gets to read what I have written.
  4. I analyze what my readers’ preferences by checking how long they stayed on a page, where they go after visiting that page. I really need to know this so that I may be able to write more in depth and more interesting posts for that topic.

SEO and Blogging Tips

The Realities of SEO
SEO is the analytical method to make the blog/website searchable in search engines. SEO is not really an easy task and requires huge amount of time and effort to make it achieve something. But if ever one has become successful, it can help in marketing because the primary goal of a blogger is to make money online out of the traffic created by SEO’ing. That is why several strategies must be developed in order to achieve this.

Ok, there is no failure in SEO’ing a website or a blog because surely the process can bring in the traffic if assuming that you have mastered the techniques. The main cause of failure are the following: (1) Poor content; (2) poor Blog/Website design; (3) There is no reason why visitors will stay longer or keep on coming back; (4) there is no constant communication between the blogger(seller) and the visitor.

Just keep in mind that in order for you as an internet marketer/blogger to get loyal visitors is to avoid doing all of the 4 main elements that will cause your failure.

Poor Contents will fail SEO
The most essential part of the blog is its contents. Obviously, you blog because you are promoting something, be it a product, a service, your beliefs, or anything under the sun. And we all know that out of those 2 billion internet users, someone would at least be curious about what you are trying to promote if only he knew that your blog exists.

That’s the main goal of SEO, you SEO your blog so that people will know that it exists. Of course the SEO process can initially bring small traffic to your blog. This small traffic will be responsible in
telling who they know about your blog if they liked your blog. What would make them like your blog? Of course, first and foremost, the content of the blog.

So let’s say while you are posting some links in a very popular forum, someone noticed your link and he clicked on it, and he was impressed with the contents, of course, he will reply to your post that he liked your blog and that unsolicited review was repeated 10 times on the same forum…the tendency is everyone else will follow.

Next, after these small people got to know that you have a nice blog, what’s next?

Maintain Loyal Visitors to Your Blog
So after you realized that you got a great blog because you have gotten several visitors and they said your blog was superb and you are so happy that gained 5000 visitors in just few weeks.

Then all of a sudden, your visitors shrunk to nearly zero(0) and you are puzzled why you are back to square 1 again. Probably your visitors are still there but then got bored with your great contents and anyway its just great contents. Then you should think why is that so, and soon you’ll realize that well your visitors do not have enough reasons to keep on coming back to your blog because to them, its just a reading material.

So how will you give them enough reason to visit you more frequently than they should? Creativity should make you win them back. As an example, a blog that produces great advices and latest news about golfing will eventually become boring so why not introduce a way for your visitors to participate in some form of discussions? Or create a very entertaining game that would enable them to further develop their golfing skills. Or another way is organize an event that would draw interests to the golfing crowd without making them do much effort but is worth remembering. Things like these could make your blog even more popular and eventually your visitors are not just visitors but has become part of a golfing community that you yourself has formed.

So you have a great blog that has just transformed into a community site…what’s next?

Turn your loyal visitors as your buyers
If you are just advocating for some ideas, religions, groups, etc and have no interest in commercializing your website/blog then you can skip reading this article and if you are a blogger who’s main intention is to make money online by turning your loyal visitors into buyers, then read on.

Ok so you have loyal visitors and enjoying lots of praises and all that but your conversion rate is minimal(let’s say 3%) then you have a problem with how you present your ideas that does not leads to making your visitors buying your products and/or services. Some tips are you should at least be persuasive but do not overdo it, second, arrange your ads in such a way that your product becomes irresistible, choose an ad design that at first glance creates a great and persuasive impact, and lastly give some promotional items or some discounts that should make it even more irresistible. And oh don’t forget to always ask for feedbacks from your buyers and should always be connected with them by regularly sending emails and greeting cards so that your visitors will not forget that you have a great website where they can hang-out while they are web surfing. There are probably more marketing techniques that you can come out with but what I have mentioned are very accurate and effective.

Keyword Research

Keyword Research is a common process in SEO. SEO professionals need to find what keywords people use in their search. How many people has used these keywords over some period of time. Where did these people entered these keywords(geographic location). What these people do after the search activity(did they signed-up?, did they buy the product?). Always remember that when people search for information it often means that they are looking to buy and are targeted leads. So if people find you, you have to make sure that your website contains the right information that these people are looking for.

It would be also nice if information like people’s age bracket, economic status, educational background, personal preferences, etc  is available. If you noticed, these data are very important for website owners so that they can use this as a marketing material.

Now to obtain this data, one must be resourceful. Some use the data available in google adwords. Google Adwords provides a  comprehensive statistical data for their advertisers and had made it publicly available.

Keywords are usually ranked based on inverse proportionality of number of people that used the keyword over how many websites are competing for that particular keyword. This is commonly known as the query competition index(QCI). The ranking is on a scale from zero to 100. The higher the QCI, the more valuable the keyword is. But the drawdown is the difficulty of being able to compete with other websites that target keywords that have very high QCI.

Keyword Research is verry important in search enginge optimization campaigns and one of the most crucial steps. Targetting a wrong keyword for your website can lead to search engines and  your customers may never finding you resulting in huge money and precious time losses.

Search Engine Optimization Tutorial

Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the visibility of a website, blog or web page in search engines via natural and unpaid results. The main motivation behind SEO is that “search” is the number one web activity and therefore search engines like google, yahoo and bing where most people visit to do their search activities can provide the sustainable web visitors over long period of time if not for a lifetime.

Having a huge number of visitors and converting these visitors into loyal/regular visitors and eventually registered users can bring in money especially when these visitors reaches over 10 million which most bloggers and website owners can only just dream of. That is why, SEO is very very important.

The SEO process begins with a blog, website or a web page. The web page basically targets a phrase which most people use as a search term. This phrase is commonly known as keyword. Then, the web page is designed to make it search engine robots friendly. The search engine robots or spiders are computer programs from search engines to study the design(contents) of the web page. It collects information about the web page. It is not as intelligent as we humans and its behavior is governed by rules set by search engine owners, developers. This process I have just described is called on-page seo technique because well obviously, the process involves optimization process for the web page only.

The next basic step is off-page seo process. The search engine spiders counts the out-going links present on a web page and visits each one of these links. The lesser the outgoing links in a web page would mean higher chances of the page getting higher ranking on search engines. The spider also counts how many times it has spidered a web page. So if a web page has more incoming links or more popularly known as back links, then the web page will have a better chance of getting higher ranking in search engines.

Well, this is the introduction of SEO and in the succeeding articles, I will discussed more in details the topics I discussed above.
